A native of Germany, Chef Jonas Plangger developed an interest and passion for cooking and baking from a young age. This served to fuel his love of being a Pastry Chef and he decided to pursue it as a career.
Starting his career path as an apprentice for three years, Chef Jonas’s creativity and discipline allowed him to make his jump to Commis Chef at a Five Star Hotel, with one Michelin-starred restaurant. Following his passion, he has continued to refine his craft in the most prestigious restaurants, resulting in his promotion to Chef de Partie.
The skills and expertise gained from his previous positions allowed him to become Head Pastry Chef for the one Michelin-starred restaurant at Coworth Park. It also helped him achieve a spot as a member of the British pastry national team for the pastry world cup 2018 -which he states is the proudest moment as a pastry chef. For him, the most rewarding part of being a pastry chef is being creative and having the ability to work all over the world.
Throughout his career and after developing his management skills abroad, Chef Jonas attained the understanding of self-discipline and, being firm yet fair is essential to run a pastry operation at a proficient level. His guiding light is to attain the highest standard of quality and the search for never-ending perfection. This principle has always been reflected in his masterpieces, one of them being his favourite creation – St. Honoré.
His driving force was the opportunity to manage a multi-outlet pastry department in the Middle East. His familiarity with Classical French baking polished flawlessly with classicalpastries reinvented with modern charm. Chef Jonas's dynamism and leadership will be valuable assets to support KOA’s culinary team.
